Prep List
Remove jewelry, contact lenses, false lashes, nails, band-aids.
Remove any removable medical or dental apparatus (including birth control rings and patches).
Remove all nail polish. Cut fingernails and toenails and smooth around the edges with a nail file. Clean nails carefully and make sure there is no dirt or remnants of polish. Remove loose hanging skin around nails that is easily removable.
Brush teeth well. Use a toothpick or dental floss as an additional cleaning tool. Check that there is no food left in teeth.
Clean ears carefully. Clean earring holes.
Blow your nose and make sure it's clean.
Remove all traces of makeup, moisturizers, and creams. Pay special attention to mascara and eyeliner.
Soak scabs so they soften. Remove if loose.
Soak in the bath.
Shower with warm water after bathing. Wash everywhere with hot water and soap, including under the arms, navel, under breasts and nipples, and other crevices of the body. Clean extra carefully between toes and the bottom of feet.
Wash and comb hair thoroughly and remove all knots. (All body hair that is normally removed should be shaved/ waxed/ plucked a day prior to the Mikvah night.)
